Nintendo Direct E3 2013 Recap

Nintendo Direct E3 2013 Recap - Article

Nintendo presented a Nintendo Direct video outlining their E3 lineup and it definitely delivered a whole bunch of goodness, so let's get into it.

The presentation opened with a new trailer for Pokémon X and Y version. The trailer showed the 18th Pokémon type, Fairy. Also a new Nintendogs style mini-game called Pokémon Amie (French for freind) will also be making its debut. The game will be releasing on October 12th.

Next up is Nintendo's big title for the holiday season, Super Mario 3D World. The first console 3D Mario game to feature 4 player simultaneous co-op. The trailer also showed how each of the four heroes (Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach) will play differently, just like they did in Super Mario Bros. 2.

The next game they showed was Mario Kart 8, which will introduce rotating tracks and anti-gravity to the series. It will be releasing sometime in 2014.

A new Art Academy title will also be making the rounds with a preview edition being released on the e-Shop sometime this summer as a reward for the hard work Miiverse artists have put into their drawings.

Nintendo then followed it up with our first view of The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD in action. The game, apart from looking very snazzy, will feature some revamped gameplay mechanics like faster sailing and a new Tingle Bottle item that will let you throw a message in a bottle into other people's games.

Retro Studios' new game was revealed to be a new title in the Donkey Kong Country franchise titled Tropical Freeze. The game looks to play rather similar to the Wii and 3DS titles but will introduce Dixie Kong and her twirling pony-tail. No release date was announced but stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Then a trailer for Bayonetta 2 was shown, showing off her new look and the game's stylised art style, the game will be releasing in 2013.

Both Wii Party U and Wii Fit U experienced a slight delay but will both still be releasing sometime in 2013.

Next up was one of my most anticipated games for the Wii U, the still ambiguously titled 'X' from Monolith Software. A new trailer and gameplay were both shown and we now know that we'll have to be a bit more patient before we get our hands on the spiritual successor to Xenoblade sometime in 2014.

Finally Nintendo saved their biggest gun for last. Finally formally announcing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. The games will each feature their own unique art style and apparently even distinct levels. But Nintendo didn't stop with just showing us the first glance at the new Smash Bros' titles but also announced two new characters, the Villager from Animal Crossing and (gasp!) Mega Man! The Blue Bomber's moveset looks to be inspired from Mega Man 2's boss types yet it's still unsure how he can use that many moves.
