Microsoft Closing Xbox Entertainment Studios - NewsDaniel Carreras, posted on 21 July 2014 / 1,178 Views
Alongside recent news that Microsoft will be laying off 18,000 staff came the news that included in that number is the team over at Xbox Entertainment Studios.
This team, set up to make new original programming for the Xbox brand, consists of around 200 people, all of whom will now be losing their jobs due to the studio closing.
Microsoft has stated that it will be refocusing its efforts on games, which seems to suggest the company is moving away from the TV and Entertainment focus that Don Mattrick put in place previously.
Projects currently in the process of being finished, like Microsoft's ET Atari documentary, the Halo TV Series and Remedy Entertainment's Quantum Break won't be effected by this closure.
