Kojima Likely to Leave Konami after MGSV Amid Power Struggle

Kojima Likely to Leave Konami after MGSV Amid Power Struggle - News

Further to the story we covered earlier, concerning the removal of Kojima Productions and Hideo Kojima's name from various Konami-owned websites and social media accounts, Gamespot has been told by a source at the company that Kojima does indeed plan to leave the firm once Metal Gear Solid V has released:

"After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December. At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans."

Apparently these events were precipitated by a power struggle between Konami and Kojima Productions, which has prompted Konami to undertake extraordinary measures, including the aforementioned removal of logos and names from web pages, as well as restricting employees' access to corporate internet, emails, and phone accounts.

According to Gamespot, "some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees", so it looks as though Kojima's time at Konami really is coming to an end.
