by William D'Angelo , posted on 22 February 2015 / 4,791 Views

There were reports that some people in the UK have had their Shulk Ambiibo figure cancelled. Nintendo has confirmed the reports to Nintendo life.

"Nintendo UK can confirm that the Nintendo Official UK Store has had to cancel a very limited number of pre-orders for the Shulk amiibo," said a Nintendo representative. "Nintendo is in the process of contacting those customers affected and apologises for any inconvenience caused as a result of this."

Maybe Ninten is limiting scalpers from getting them all again? That`d be nice...

I don't know why Nintendo does this as they know how demanding this particular Amiibo would be. Also, if Nintendo doesn't make another Shulk amiibo or release more then that would be sad and pathetic as nobody will be able to find any before the Xenoblade 3DS game comes out making that game's amiibo function practically DOA.

why do we even keep on getting updates on Nintendo's messy decisions?

there are more negative Nintendo news than positive :/

I don't know what people are expecting the figures that are shipping where planned before the launch of the first wave. Since Nintendo doesn't own any of its own manufacturing they have to plan months in advance using input from its retail partners on how many need to be made. And I read in some place that these partners didn't think these would sell much, if at all, for a lot of the figures. So what Nintendo order was probably in the range of 10% more then what was expected to sell from its industrial partners.

They can order more space but the customers will not see the benefits from that for six months or more because of setup of new equipment, retooling, etc. So in about April or May we will see more then enough being made, and that is about when we will see the promised second runs of the figures.

Nintendo needs to start airlifting those suckers into the states. If I can't get my Toad Amiibo I'm going to have to fly to Japan and slap Iwata in the face. I don't wanna have to do it.

As if Nintendo hadn't already mishandled this enough already...

This is just getting despicable.

Well the figures that are being released where being planned and ordered before the first wave of Amiibos hit anywhere. So we will be seeing the shortages of all figures especially the characters perceived by the retail sector as niche character until May or latter, since Nintendo doesn't own its own manufacturing and they have to through the process of getting its industrial partners to open up more factory space for them.

I see. Nintendo is trying maximize the demand here by limiting supplies. Sort of like when Air Jordan sneakers come. When they are sold out that day...no more is shipped. I hope this isn't the case with Nintendo.

It isn't, unlike Nike, Nintendo doesn't own it factories. I explained a little bit more in my reply but Nintendo gets feed back for how many to make from its retail partners who will be doing the ordering. They then do to their industrial partners and make the order for each wave months before each wave, it takes about three-to-six months to retool industrial machines. So each and every wave that has come out where made before any real retail data came out. And from what I read somewhere most of their retail partners didn't think this will even sell. (Probably based on Infinity and Skylanders not selling as many as expected and there are a lot sitting on the shelves.)

Why not just make some more to finish up the needed pre orders? Nintendo has really dropped the ball on the amiibo supply or either their trying to create hype and demand.

It takes months to make more the factories they have making Amiibos are already making them for future waves.
