Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. The charts will be updated monthly and each article will focus on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 vs Xbox One – VGChartz Gap Charts – January 2015 Update

PS4 Vs. XOne Global:

Gap change in latest month: 284,108 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 5,930,072 – PS4

Total Lead: 7,753,891 – PS4

PS4 Total Sales: 19,052,353

Xbox One Total Sales: 11,298,462

In December 2014 the gap between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One grew once again in favor of the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 sold 284,108 more units than the Xbox One to bring the total lead to 7.75 million units. The PlayStation 4 has sold 19.05 Million units in 15 months, while the Xbox One has sold 11.30 million units.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both launched in November 2013 in North America and Europe. The PlayStation 4 launched on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe. The Xbox One launched on November 22 in North America and Europe.

I think you missed a zero, it's going to be above 10 millions pretty soon.

Cannot say I am surprised. I expect a 8 million difference shortly before April, 9-10 million before E3, 11+ during Games com, and fall back down towards about 10.5 by the time the Holidays. Either way, Microsoft is going to have to cut the price yet again.

Uh, it's January. November and December are obviously big months. But nothing was going on in January. February's numbers are bound to be higher with the release of The Order and such.
