by William D'Angelo , posted on 27 January 2015 / 4,199 Views

Microsoft has released the latest firmware update for the Xbox One controller to the people who are enrolled in the Xbox Preview Program.

The update makes two changes. The first being a big one in that the controller used to take between 4 and 5 seconds to connect to the Xbox One when turning it on. Now it takes around two seconds. Secondly, there are a bunch of small stability imrpovements.

I really don't like the Xbox One controller at all. I wish they would put out an update that made the 360 pad work with it because the wonky analogue sticks on the new pad are pretty awful.

what does connection time matter when most people turn on their console with the pad, you've still got 40+ seconds to wait for the thing to boot so you can actually use the pad anyway.

So it should connect more like a DualShock 4 now? Cool.

Although, having to update controller formware is a new level of bizarre and a rather strong indicator of an incomplete platform. lol

Now Sony, how about that "off" option for the controller light.

I don't really have an issue with it anymore after getting one of those light bar stickers and turning down the brightness. Before that though, my god was the light brightly reflecting on my tv.

That would be dumb, since some games use it pretty intricately... Unless developers had to manually toggle the option. That would be okay, but a bit complicated.

I love the light. ♡
