Apple Stops Sales in Russia Over Plummeting Rouble Value - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 17 December 2014 / 3,677 ViewsApple has decided to stop selling its products online in Russia, due to the plummeting value of the Rouble. Apple is also closing its Russian website. Last month Apple had increased the prices of their products by 25 percent to bring it inline with the rest of Europe.
The Rouble has dropped in value by 20 percent in the last week alone and Russia's central bank has spent $2 billion in the last week to help stop the slide. However, the falling price of oil and the sanctions imposed due to the Ukraine crisis has been causing the constant slide in value.

yep. my wife is back there at the moment, the amusing part is the sanctions have almost zero effect on the people they targeted with them but they do affect the little people, had to get my wife to open a new account with a different Russian bank for money transfers, irritating but manageable for us, those with a lot less it could be a significant impact. The oil price is absolutely slamming the economy though.
