General Manager of Nintendo France Philippe Lavoué spoke with Challenges about the Wii U and how the console has been gaining momentum. He also gave specific sales figures for the Wii U and some games in France.

Sales for the Wii U in France are up 50 percent year-over-year to 150,000 units this year. The Wii U has sold 450,000 units to date and Lavoué expects sales to near 550,000 units by the end of the year.

The growth in Wii U sales Lavoué states is due to the strong lineup of games that includes Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, and Bayonetta 2. Sales for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are expected to top 200,000 units by the end of the year. Mario Kart 8 has managed to sells 272,000 units to date.

"The Wii U is in full momentum," said Lavoué. "Its life is far from being reduced. We are making progress every year by enriching the proposals. There is no reason why the life cycle is shortened. And the more we advance in the cycle, plus the installed base expands and there are more games available."

Lavoué also talked about the 3DS. 3DS sales last week were up 70 percent due to the release of Pokemon Pokemon Ruby Sapphire Alpha and Omega. The game sold 191,000 units in its first week, which is up 50 percent from what Pokemon X/Y sold in its launch.

467,909 on VGchartz, another evidence in support of the theory that wii u is overtracked.

The difference is not that big, 450k to 467k is just a 17k difference, could be worse.
Besides, according to the article they are expecting to hit 550k or at least come very close to that sum this year, so the numbers can't be very much off.

450,000 probably isn't an exact number. We just know there are at least 450,000, not the precise number. It seems like VGC is right on track then with it's 467k number. The VGC MK8 numbers are under for France, but not by much, so when you factor for digital, it's right on track.

Not really, they said "We are now on a 450K Units Installbase"
They Used the exact same words for the 300K Wii U at the end of the year 2013, though GfK proved it was a bit less (~290K IIRC), so there's still a good chance he has kinda rounded up the final numbers again. if it's the same situation, it could be well about 30-35K over on VGC (467K is @ Nov22, not Nov 30) as it could be only 10-15K over with your assumption that they didn't spin the numbers this time.

But don't worry, some other consoles are also overtracked here in France. (150K+ for ps4+one+wiiu+psv+3ds as of September 30th (GfK/SELL data))

I hope we'll get more hardware informations from GfK in Jan/Feb for the 2014 final numbers in France. They didn't report publicly any Wii U hardware figure since June 2013 ;/ (Though we could deduce what the Wii U number for 2013 full year was since they reported ps4+one+wiiu, PS4, and xbox one)
