Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. The charts will be updated monthly and each article will focus on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 vs PS3 – VGChartz Gap Charts – October 2014 Update

PS4 Vs. PS3 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 677,893 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 6,011,458

Total Lead: 7,750,068 – PS4

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 13,349,025

PlayStation 3 Total Sales: 5,598,957

October 2014 is the 12th month the PlayStation 4 is on sale. The gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 4 when compared to the 12th month the PlayStation 3 was on sale. The gap increased by 677,893 units, to bring it to 6,011,458.

Both consoles launched in November. The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. In its first 12 months on sale the PlayStation 4 has sold a total 13.35 million units, while the PlayStation 3 has sold 5.60 million units.

Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, Alienation, God Eater 2, and all the third party titles. PS4 is second to none next year. :3

ps4 still increase the gap rapidly and xbox one is gap with xbox360 is increasing again good news for hardcore gamer

Personally I think it's more than 13,35 million. But it is incredible how much more the PS4 has done in it's first year compared to the PS3.
