The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

Xbox One vs Wii U – VGChartz Gap Charts – October 2014 Update

XOne Vs. Wii U Global:

Gap change in latest month: 262,056 – Xbox One

Gap change over last 12 months: 1,614,166

Total Lead: 986,485 – Wii U

Xbox One Total Sales: 6,318,156

Wii U Total Sales: 7,304,641

In October 2014 the Xbox One managed to eliminate about a quarter of the gap. The gap decreased by 262,056 units. The Wii U currently leads by 986,485 units. The game is expected to decrease by 500,000 to 800,000 units in November.

The Xbox One launched in North America and Europe on November 22. The Wii U launched in November 2012. The Wii U has sold 7.30 million units to date, while the Xbox One has sold 6.32 million units.

Nintendo needs to really consider doing a deep price drop for the WiiU.

I'm sure they are considering it, but even if they do go ahead with a massive cut it won't happen until at least April of next year (they need to end this year with a profit).

I will bet on a price drop almost immediately after the end of the fiscal year. They are riding this $300 pricetag to be able to report a nice meaty profit at the end of it. Once they have satisfied their investors and board, they will drop the price. I'm betting in conjunction with a release (Mario Maker or Splatoon probably)

XBOX ONE sold 168K this NPD.
XBOX ONE number are 60% in the US, so, less than 300,000 globally.
VGChartz overtracked XO by +150K in October...

Probabily that the real sales are:
XO: 280,000
WiiU: 200,000

This month the gap are less than 100K...
