Electronic Arts has released quarterly report for its second fiscal quarter, which ended on September 30, 2014. Both revenue and profits are up. Revenue increased to $990 on a GAAP basis, from $695 million year-over-year. EA also posted a small profit of $3 million, which is up from a loss of $273 million.

On a non-GAAP basis revenue increased to $1.22 billion, from $1.04 billion. Income increased to $232 million, from $105 million. Revenue for the trailing 12 months set a new EA record at $4.48 billion. That is up from $3.76 billion year-over-year. Net income hit $843 million, up from $329 million.

"Electronic Arts continues to put our players first, delivering new experiences, innovation and new ways to play," said CEO Andrew Wilson. "It was an excellent second quarter, with strong new titles, deep player engagement in our live services and ongoing digital growth driving continued momentum."

Electronic Arts says it is the biggest publisher for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the West. 1.9 billion hours of gameplay were logged on all EA games combined on all consoles and the PC during the quarter.

Electronic Arts added that its mobile sports business has been a huge success. Its mobile sports have averaged more than 40 million monthly active users during the second quarter. That is a massive 250 percent increase. The majority of hours played were for Madden NFL Mobile and FIFA 15 Ultimate Team Mobile. The total monthly active users for all of EA's games hit 155 million.

"By emphasizing player engagement and our digital live services, we've grown revenue, expanded gross margins and delivered EPS well above prior year and our guidance," added Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen. "We are raising our annual non-GAAP net revenue guidance by $75 million to $4.175 billion and annual non-GAAP diluted EPS by $0.20 to $2.05."

EA also put a release date on Battlefield Hardline. The game will launch in North America on March 17, 2015 and on March 19, 2015 in Europe.

Good for you EA. Still managing my boycott, entering year 2 without giving you a single penny.

It's really easy to not give EA any money when you're a Nintendo fan.
