Microsoft has announced in a blog post they will be releasing a $50 adapter for the Xbox One Kinect, so it can work for Windows 8 PCs and tablets. The standalone Xbox One Kinect was released on October 7 for $150.

"Since last November when we gave our developer preview program participants access to an early version of the SDK, we have been listening," read the blog post. "Over the past year, the team has engaged in dozens of hackathons, worked through countless issues reported by you, and we are only getting started."

There is an update for the Kinect SDK 2.0 available to download for free. Developers will also be able to release Kinect apps to the Windows Store.

Hey let's not allow DLNA etc so people subscribe to the Sony rentals.

Hey let's include a useless headset in the PS4 so they buy one of our expensive ones.

So the thing is, the adapter only needs to be a USB pass through... which is why everyone is having some issues with the price. Thing is, someone will probably sell the same thing on amazon for $3 shipped. Its a "The Kings New Clothes" moment.

as if $50 is bad, the kinect 2.0 sensor is a joke at $150, who in their right mind will pay $200 for a device that only works in a few apps, wait a few weeks and a third party manufacturer will produce a device that does exactly the same thing as Microsofts $50 adapter for $10 and get the kinect 2.0 sensor pre-owned for $50!

im glad you lot are down voting my comment, it just means more people will read it and if they use a simple bit of logic they can see there is no hate towards the kinect 2.0 camera in its self but the ripoff price that Microsoft is charging for it, $300 more and you can get an XB1 that fully utilizes the camera and has more than just a few apps making it a more worthy purchase, please use some logic before voting!
