Apple has Strong Quarter, iPhone Sales Up, iPad Sales Down - News

Apple has revealed its quarterly sales for its fourth fiscal quarter. Revenue climbed 12 percent to $42.1 billion, while profits hit $8.5 billion. Earnings per share increased 20 percent to $1.42. This is up from the $1.31 analysts had predicted.

"Our fiscal 2014 was one for the record books, including the biggest iPhone launch ever with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "With amazing innovations in our new iPhones, iPads and Macs, as well as iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, we are heading into the holidays with Apple's strongest product lineup ever. We are also incredibly excited about Apple Watch and other great products and services in the pipeline for 2015."

Sales for the iPhone were up 16 percent due to the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple managed to sell 39.2 million iPhone's during the quarter. However, iPad sales dropped 13 percent to 12.3 million. Sales for Mac increased 21 percent to 5.52 million.

"I view it as a speed bump, not as a big issue," said Cook in Apple's earnings call attended by VentureBeat. "That said, we want to grow. We don’t like negative numbers."

"If you look at it over the long term instead of looking at each 90-day period, you’ll see that we sold 237 million iPads in just four years," he added. "That’s twice the number of iPhones we sold during the first four years."

What are you talking about? It's been dead for years. Apple died with Steve Jobs... twice actually. Problem is he can't come back this time arround.
