Overall, hardware sale this week increased by 28 percent. Week-on-week sales are up for every platform, except for the 3DS. Overall year-on-year sales are even. The Wii U is the only platform up year-on-year.
Five games debuted in the top 30 this week: FIFA 15 (PS4) debuted at the top with sales of 2.2 million units. The PS3 version debuted at number two with sales of 1.3 million units. The Xbox 360 version debuted at number three with sales of 833,336. The Xbox One version debuted at number four with sales of 610,303. The Vita version debuted at number 22 with sales of 32,765. The PC version debuted at number 23 with sales of 30,953. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Software milestones this week in the top 30: Destiny (PS3) passed the three million mark.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week is up across the board. PlayStation 4 sales are up by 69,161 (37%) to 255,954 units sold. Xbox One sales are up by 66,350 (73%) to 157,715 units sold. The PS3 sold 52,237 units, an increase of 5,897 (13%). Wii U sales are up by 5,770 (13%) to 50,840 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are up by 2,811 (10%) to 31,720 units sold. The Wii sold 6,096 units, an increase of 29 (0%).
Handheld sales week-on-week is up for the Vita and down for the 3DS. The 3DS sold 89,869 units, which is a decrease of 8,308 (-8%). The PlayStation Vita sold 26,509 units, which is up 6,817 (35%) compared to last week. Week on week sales is up by 148,527 (28%) to 670,940.
The Wii U is up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 141,236 (-73%), the Wii is down 10,741 (-64%), the Xbox 360 is down 73,530 (-70%), and the Wii U is up 9,091 (22%). The Vita is down 12,681 (-32%) and the 3DS is down 146,624 (-62%). Year on year sales is up by 1,475 units (0%).
Home console hardware sales have increased for the Wii U for two weeks, and one week for everything else.
The PlayStation 3 has a 58 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 35 percent market share; and the Wii has a seven percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 55 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 34 percent market share and the Wii U has a 11 percent market share.
Handheld hardware sales increased for the Vita for one week. The 3DS has decreased for the 3DS. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has decreased this week to 63,000 units, from 79,000 units last week.
The 3DS has a 77 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 23 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks the 3DS and Vita are down.

Haikyuu!! Tsunage! Itadaki no Keshiki!! (3DS) debuted at number 19 with sales of 42,981. The game launched in Japan.
Fatal Frame Wii U (WiiU) debuted at number 25 with sales of 29,127. The game launched in Japan.
Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Destiny (PS4) is at the top number five with sales of 276,723. Destiny (XOne) is at number six with sales of 151,742. Hyrule Warriors (WiiU) is at number seven with sales of 138,399. Super Smash Bros. 3DS (3DS) is at number eight with sales of 116,157. Destiny (X360) is at number nine with sales of 106,644.
Software home console sales week-on-week is up across the board. The PlayStation 4 sold 2.76 games, an increase of 2.01 million units (-75%). The PlayStation 3 sold 2.15 million games this week, an increase of 1.29 million units (150%). The Xbox 360 sold 1.48 million games, an increase of 821,343 units (125%). Xbox One software sales are up 534,372 units (143%) to 909,115 games sold. The Wii U sold 302,511 games, an increase of 73,666 (32%). The Wii sold 208,345 games, an increase of 39,901 (24%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week is up for the DS, PSP and Vita. The 3DS sold 523,280 games, which is down 145,770 units (-22%). The DS sold 133,575 games, an increase of 2,026 units (2%) week-on-week. Vita game sales are up 221,164 units (249%) to 310,136 games sold. The PSP sold 68,570 games, an increase of 17,792 (-3%). Total combined software is up 4.87 million units (122%) week-on-week to 8.85 million.
Year-on-year software totals are up for the Wii U and Vita. The PlayStation 3 is down 2.93 million units (-58%), the Wii is down 121,155 units (-37%), the Xbox 360 is down 2.17 million units (-59%), and the Wii U is up 148,462 units (96%). The DS is down 67,565 units (-34%), the PSP is down 50,849 units (-43%), the 3DS is down 15,515 units (-13%), and the Vita is up 102,749 units (50%). Total combined software is down 1.43 million units (-14%) games sold year-on-year.
Home console software sales have increased for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii for one week. Sales have increased for the Wii U for two weeks.
The PlayStation 3 has a 56 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 39 percent market share; and the Wii has a five percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 69 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 23 percent market share, and the Wii U has an eight percent market share.
Handheld software sales have increased for the Vita, PSP, and DS for one week. The 3DS has decreased for two weeks. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS nearly sold two times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold nearly two times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 66 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 34 percent market share. The 3DS has a 63 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has an371 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the Vita is up.
