New 3DS to Launch in Japan and Australia This Year, 2015 in the West - News

Nintendo in its latest Nintendo Direct has announced that the New 3DS and New 3DS XL are also coming to Australia and New Zealand this year on November 21. The handhelds won't be released in North America and Europe until sometime in 2015.

The New 3DS is priced at AU$219.95 in Australia and the New 3DS XL will be AU$249.95. There will also be 20 face plates available at launch. The Xenoblade Chronicles titles which is exclusive to the New 3DS won't be released in Australia until next year.

two reasons 1. they get better margins there . 2 . they can cover demand without having issues and use it as a trial for western launch .

Simply, we are a smaller market. They must be well on track to have enough units for Japan, but didn't have enough time to make enough units for Europe and the US for this holiday, but still wanted to make some more money for the holidays and must have decided they had enough time to make enough for the Australian market. Which I love, we usually get screwed over by gaming companies.

AU: 700 thousand

sales of the 3ds are going to suffer until they clarify if this is a replacement system or not.
