Yesterday it was announced by Microsoft the Xbox One launch was delayed. Xbox China GM Enwei Xie has released a statement being reported by Kotaku the delay was due to the Chinese government. The Xbox One is now launching a week later on September 29.

"After receiving government approval for the first wave of games, we will launch with the first 10 games now and continue our work to bring more blockbuster games and a broad offering of entertainment and app experiences to the platform in the weeks and months to come," said Xie. "With extraordinary effort and seamless cooperation across parties, we are incredibly excited to deliver Xbox One to fans in China and we welcome them to the Xbox family."

"This milestone is significant for both our partnership with China and our global expansion plan. Every new market launch is unique and we're grateful to our fans for their patience and enthusiasm throughout the process," said Xbox head Phil Spencer.

The games available at launch are Forza Motorsport 5, Kinect Sports Rivals, Powerstar Golf, Zoo Tycoon, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, Dance Central Spotlight, Neverwinter Online, Rayman Legends Trials Fusion, and Naughty Kitties.

The Xbox One is the first console to be released in China in 14 years.

smh, china has way too many restrictions and censorships. oh well, at least they undid the console ban. it will be interesting to see just how much that region will contribute to console sales and revenue.

Naughty Kitties.. . what the fuck? Will be pretty nuts each game needing to get gov approval there considering what blizzard had to do to World of Warcraft for the chinese market, ICC was hilarious because they can't show anything to do with skeletons.... massive undead instance made of bones. But yeah at least it will be more console games than the past 14 years so hopefully MS puts the effort in to break that massive market.

I believe you're in the wrong article. Nothing about a price cut here.

What a terrible list of launch games.

obviously, they wanted to launch with more but you can blame the Chinese government for that. china wants to censor as much as possible, so only very few games will be approved for sale.
