The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 vs PS3 – VGChartz Gap Charts – August 2014 Update

PS4 Vs. PS3 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 175,609 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: n/a

Total Lead: 5,618,120 – PS4

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 10,203,980

PlayStation 3 Total Sales: 4,585,860

August 2014 is the tenth month the PlayStation 4 is on sale. The gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 4 when compared to the tenth month the PlayStation 3 was on sale. The gap increased by 175,609 units, to bring it to 5,618,120.

Both consoles launched in November. The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. In its first ten months on sale the PlayStation 4 has sold a total 10.20 million units, while the PlayStation 3 has sold 4.59 million units.
