The Xbox One had a strong launch in November of last year, but sales have fallen off. Microsoft in order to increase sales released a Kinectless SKU for $399 on June 9th the same day as their E3 conference.

Microsoft has announced that sales for the Xbox One has more than doubled in in June, when compared to May, due to the release of the $399 SKU.

"Over the past month, we’ve seen a strong spike in interest in our Xbox One console options, including the new $399 offering, and the amazing lineup of games announced during E3," said Microsoft. "Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th, we’ve seen sales of Xbox One more than double* in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales."

"We’re excited to welcome so many fans to Xbox this summer and we can’t wait for them to get their hands on the wide selection of new games available this year on Xbox One, including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, and Ori and the Blind Forest," added Microsoft.

Microsoft added that there will be an "incredible pace" of Xbox One games released this fall, starting with Madden NFL 15 next month. They are also working on deals and special promotions that will be available later this year.

I'm to laugh so hard if Sony wins, I saw tons of Xbox One advertisement when the price dropped, if they still don't win...lol.

Not really hard to do X2 sales when the month before was poor because of a incoming pricedrop :)

dasert (on 17 July 2014)

Just out of interest, did you remind people last month and post a comment then something like "the month is poor because of a incoming pricedrop :)" ?.

Nice spin MS but if the your sales 'spike' doesn't even bring you level with you main competitor you are in trouble!!

bouboumorveu (on 17 July 2014)

Odd how most comments here are slamming this otherwise good news. As if their sensitivity, even in victory, must compel them to kick competition even when down and trying to do better.

GoldenGamer (on 18 July 2014)

Well I bet you had no problem with it when MS was dominating.

Good news for gamers bad news for fanboys, some of whom have posted above and are clearly upset by this news.
