Ubisoft: Splinter Cell: Blacklist Sells 2 Million, Rayman Legends Sells 1 Million

Ubisoft in its post-earnings conference call earlier this week announced the sales of Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Rayman Legends. Sales for both games have fallen below Ubisoft expectations.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist
has managed to sell two million units since it launched on August 20. The game is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. Rayman Legends has sold just one million units to date. The game launched on August 30 for the Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. The game was originally a Wii U exclusive, but was delayed to add extra content to be released on other platforms.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
has lived up to expectations so far. However, no sales figure was given. Ubisoft just said they expect the game to sell 10 million units for the year.

Ubisoft believes that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will help reinvigorate the gaming industry. The publisher expects the two platforms to sell a combined 10 million units by the end of March 2014.

Well when you openly advertise Day-1 DLC and pre-order exclusive in-game weapons, then yes your sales -should- falter a little. I retracted my payed-off preorder when I found out Ubisoft was pulling this crap -yet- again except this time with my most favorite franchise. Ikll wait until it comes down to $30 or so before I buy it. Rayman Legends is still on my to-buy list though.

should've saved Splintercell for next gen

Splinter Cell Blacklist is still on my list to get... just not yet. I thoroughly enjoyed Rayman Legends on Wii U (digital purchase)

Are they including digital sales? i suspect a lot of Wii U owners got the digital version, i did. lol Zappykins "Raymond legends"

I wonder if they now regret pushing back Raymond Legends. (It was going to launch on the WiiU earlier this year - had lots of hype.)

Vgchartz undertracking legends then???

Gab (on 14 November 2013)

I'm sure many of those sales were digital downloads.

Nope, the article is misleading. They have SHIPPED, not sold.

What percentage of its sales (shipments) do you guys think were digital? 10%? 15? Surely not more than 20%. So at least 800k physical shipments, while VGChartz shows about 270k sold... Suggesting over 500k copies on shelves and a sellthrough rate under 35%.

Sounds like VGChartz is undertracking it to me, even in a worst-case scenario for sales, which would be the best-case scenario for tracking.

Surely that makes Legends profitable? I'm playing through it now and it totally deserves a sequel.

regin2005 (on 13 November 2013)

Does Ubisoft expect the two to sell 10 million units of content between the XBox One and PS4 or all current and next gen platforms?

Rogerioandrade (on 14 November 2013)

What a bad joke, Ubisoft. We all know that Rayman Legends barely sold 300k all version combined. No way it sold 600+ on digital format. The game even vanished from the charts in any platform. It would be smarter not to try to troll us. http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=rayman+legends

you do know that vgchartz data are estimates, right?

Also, the 1 million sale figured might include digital sales which isn't tracked by vgchartz.
