Welcome to the ‘Top 10’ weekly feature. Each week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling games in a particular genre, platform, most recent month, even sprinkling in the top 10 selling games from a past year. All sales specified will be worldwide, unless stated otherwise.

This week we will be looking at the top 10 bestselling games in November 2012. Last week we looked at the top 10 bestselling Super Nintendo Games and the week before that the top 10 bestselling fighting games. If there is a particular top 10 you want to see leave a comment and it may be featured in a future top 10.

Top 10 Selling Games in November 2012

Looking at the top 10 bestselling games in November 2012, six of the games were new releases and were the bestselling games for the month. Three of the other four games were released earlier in 2012, Just Dance 4 (Wii) came out in October, FIFA 13 (PS3) came out in September and New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) came out in July. Kinect Adventures! (X360) was the only game in the top 10 to be released before 2012, November 2010.

The top 10 bestselling Super Nintendo games sold a combined 28.96 million games. No games sold more than 10 million units for the month, however three titles did sell five million or more units: The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, as well as Halo 4. The top five games sold two million or more units, the top seven sold one million or more units and all 10 games sold 600,000 or more units.

Four of the top 10 games are for the Xbox 360, three are for the PlayStation 3, two are for the 3DS, and one is for the Wii. The four Xbox 360 games sold a combined 16.45 million units, or 56.8 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The three PlayStation 3 games sold a combined 9.62 million units, or 33.2 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The two 3DS games sold a combined 1.78 million units, or 6.1 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sold a combined 13.84 million units, or 47.8 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. Assassin’s Creed III for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sold a combined 5.55 million, 19.2 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.

Top 10 Selling Games in November 2012

Taking a look at the top 10 bestselling games in November 2012 really shows big of a month it is. The top selling game in October was Pokémon Black / White 2 which sold 2.27 million units, however the top five games in November outsold that. The top 10 games in October sold 10.64 million units, while the top 10 games in November sold nearly three times as many units.

As a quick note here are other software sales for the month of October: The top 15 games sold 500,000 or more units, the top 46 sold 200,000 or more units and the top 83 sold 100,000 or more units. 28.95 million games were sold on the Xbox 360, 22.27 million on the PlayStation 3 and 8.77 million on the Wii. 5.15 million games were sold on the 3DS and 1.42 million were sold on the PlayStation Vita. 5.13 million games were sold on the DS and 1.28 million on the PSP. 1.24 million games were sold on the Wii U.

Here are the hardware sales for the month of November: The Xbox 360 was the top platform with sales of 1.99 million units, an increase of 230 percent when compared to October. The PlayStation 3 sold 1.68 million units, an increase of 104 percent. The Wii sold 658,205 units, a 293 percent increase. The Wii U sold 462,099 units.

The 3DS sold 1.67 million units, a 107 percent increase. The DS sold 543,270 units, an increase of 264 percent. The PlayStation Vita sold 442,960 units, an increase of 183 percent. The PSP sold 150,596 units, an eight percent increase.
