The PlayStation Vita and PSP have the biggest drops this week percentage wise and the Vita only sold 30 percent of what its main rival, the 3DS did. The 3DS is the big winner week on week as its sales are up nearly 24,000. Year on year sales don’t look so good with every platform being down. However the 3DS did launch in North America exactly one year ago. Overall sales are up by one percent week on week and down 50 percent year on year.
Overall three games debuted in the top 30 this week. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS) is this week’s biggest debut with sales of 210,859. There are no software milestones this week in the top 30.
Week on week sales is up for the 3DS, flat for the PlayStation 3, and is down slightly for the Wii, Xbox 360, DS, PSP, and PlayStation Vita. The 3DS is at the top this week with sales of 234,109 units, which is up 23,595 (1%). The PlayStation 3 is up just 291 (0%) to 147,356 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down 2,600 (-2%) to 106,837 units sold. The Wii sold 74,695 units, which is down 2,613 (-3%). The PlayStation Vita is down 6,567 (-8%) to 71,155 units sold. The PSP sold 39,080 units, which is down 4,712 (-11%) compared to last week. The DS is down 1,578 (-5%) to 27,615 units sold. Total week on week sales are up 5,816 (1%) to 700,847.
Year on year sales are down for every platform. The PlayStation 3 is down 29,192 (-17%), the Wii is down 49,563 (-40%), and the Xbox 360 is down 29,435 (-22%). The PSP is down 110,992 (-74%) the DS is down 139,465 (-83%) and the 3DS is down 405,336 (-63%). With the Vita and PSP combined it is down 39,837 compared to the PSP one year ago. Total year on year sales are down 692,838 (-50%).
PlayStation 3 sales are flat week on week after falling for four straight weeks and the Xbox 360 has been declining for five straight weeks. The Wii is down slightly after, being up a tad the week before and has remained relatively stable for the last three weeks. The PlayStation 3 has a 45 percent market share; the Xbox 360 has a 32 percent market share; and the Wii has a 23 percent market share. The PlayStation 3 is in first for a 14th straight week. Compared with ten weeks ago all three home consoles are down.
The 3DS has outsold its predecessor, the DS, by nearly 7 to 1 and the Vita has outsold its predecessor, the PSP, by nearly 2 to 1. The PSP has a 59 percent market share this week for the current generation handhelds and the DS has a 41 percent. The 3DS has a 77 percent market share for the next generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 23 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the Vita and 3DS are up, while the DS and PSP are down.
Three games debuted in the top 30 this week. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS) debuted at number one with sales of 210,859. The game launched in Japan, and will release in Europe on the 27th of July and July 31 in North America.
Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2012 (PS3) debuted at number four with sales of 89,326. The PSP version debuted at number 13 with sales of 64,222. The game launched in Japan, with no plans to be released elsewhere.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 (X360) debuted at number 10 with sales of 73,962. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at number 11 with sales of 71,350. The Game launched in North America and Europe, and will release in Japan on April 26.
Other games in the top 10 that are not debuts include Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS) at number two with sales of 117,674. Mass Effect 3 (X360) is at number three with sales of 115,137. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (PS3) is at number five with sales of 88,385.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (X360) is at number six with sales of 85,509. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) is at number seven with sales of 80,887. Just Dance 3 (Wii) is at number eight with sales of 75,853. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja STORM Generations (PS3) is at number nine with sales of 74,527.
Week on week software totals are up for the DS, 3DS and Vita, flat for the Wii, and down for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PSP. The PlayStation 3 takes the top spot this week with sales of 2.10 million, a decrease of 30,503 (-1%). The Xbox 360 sold 1.88 million games this week, a decrease of 38,008 (-2%). Wii software sales are down 1,592 (0%) to 1.26 million. The 3DS sold 731,892 games, an increase of 99,287 (16%). The DS sold 651,405 games, which is up 34,427 (6%). PSP game sales are down 49,006 (-12%) to 363,018 games sold. The Vita sold 135,854 games, an increase of 8,139 (6%). Total combined software is up 22,744 (0%) week on week to 7.13 million.
Year on year software totals are up for the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, and is down for the Wii, DS, PSP, and 3DS The PlayStation 3 is up 246,380 (13%), the Wii is down 562,856 (-31%) and the Xbox 360 is up 158,435 (9%). The DS is down 949,684 (-59%), the PSP is down 273,714(-43%) and the 3DS is down 32,173 (-4%). Total combined software is down 1.28 million (-15%) games sold year on year.
The PlayStation 3 sold the most games this week and has lead for nine of the last 10 weeks. The Xbox 360 led for the other week. The PlayStation 3 has a 40 percent market share, the Xbox 360 with 36 percent, and the Wii with 24 percent. Compared to ten weeks ago the PlayStation 3 is up and the Xbox 360 and Wii are down.
The 3DS is at the top for a second straight week, while the PSP remains above the Vita by a large margin. The DS has a 64 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 36 percent market share. The 3DS has an 84 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 16 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the Vita, PSP and 3Ds are up, while the DS is down.
