There really aren't many words to describe what Castle Crashers did this week, with over 78,000 units. I knew that 'Crashers' was going to be big, but the market provided Crashers with a very robust opening, rivaling many boxed titles. It's already over $1.1 million USD in revenue, and has a very good shot at 250,000 before it's first month is over.
Could this usher a new era of downloadable titles? The Behemoth has proved that if a title, even digitally downloaded, can sell very well if there is proper marketing behind the title. Castle Crashers, for the most part has been the most hyped XBLA title of the year, and the sales have proved it.
But in other news:
- Fable 2 Pub Games continues to preform very, very well. With 3 weeks in the bag, it is holding very well, and selling a large portion of the units that we are counting, indicating many players aren't using their codes, but buying the title outright.
- Braid continues it's very strong run, with a very small 7% reduction in sales. With 1 week left for sales before it's first month is done, Braid is poised to sell 137,500 units it's first month, which is incredible given the start of the game.
- Galaga Legions sees a moderate increase vs. last week. As known last week, I felt that the tracking of the game was low, so this 60% increase in sales, week over week, is due to this undertracking. At any rate, it's doing rather well for a shmup in it's 2nd week.
- Bionic Commando: Rearmed had a decent drop this week. It is continuing to drop strongly, but will easily pass 100,000 in it's first month, and could do a decent bit more.
- Geometry Wars 2 finishes it's first full month on the market, with a record-breaking 153,000 units in it's first month. With a strong 48,000 debut, this 3x multiplier was expected. Geometry Wars 2 continues to have strong holds, and should sell well over the comin months.

sinha - The increase in sales was due to a lack of reporting from last week. Many titles saw negative numbers due to a few 'cards being pulled for cheating...Some had very slight increases vs. normal weeks, which is why the percentages are insane for some games.
Tyrannical - Remember, this chart was made on SATURDAY. The game has sold quite a bit more than 78k now. When First Day numbers are posted tomorrow, it'll be around 160,000 or more, as I already have it at 152,000 as of this writing.
Lt, Uno isn't free, but if you buy an Arcade, you get it for free.
uno isn't free i just purchased it at merketplace for 400 MS points
The CC leaderboard has about 180k tags on it. Calling 78k in sales is probably a bit conservative.
The Behemoth references these sales numbers. First Penny Arcade, then Braid, now Castle Crashers...

It looks like the release of Castle Crashers provided a sales boost to other games, how much did total XBLA sales increase this week?
Actually some of those % increase numbers look way too big, was there a glitch?
user_nat - Yes, if that card is a valid XBL Gamertag (which not all are). In order to be a valid card, you have to have a Gamertag that is connected with an MSN account, which removes some players from the way we track sales. And furthermore - we reduce the numbers by a few percent to account for multiple tags.
I was thinking about this whilst playing Castle Crashers yesterday..
You track gamercards that have played a game right? But wouldn't that mean if 4 people played on one xbox that would count as 4 purchases even though only 1 person bought it?
Behemoth have said they are working on a fix for CC, so fingures crossed it will not be too long before it is available
Braid was a title w/ an EPIC soundtrack, BTW. I'd buy it for the music.

The issue is that there's no way to know how many units of Undertow, Texas Hold Em, or others, that are free. That's why many of those questionable games have notations on them, and I define which games' have suspect revenue numbers in my list for best first weeks, and so on.

CC had such a great first week, never thought of it. Maybe I will give it a try
You still make the error of Revenue LTD for games that were free like Uno, Undertow, Texas Hold'em, Bankshot Billiards 2, etc. You'de better not show anything than a wrong value...
Why did worms hd experience a 50500% increase over last week?
I need to pay attention to these Live games.
I haven't bought any of these yet.

Over in our little league, 24 VGCers already got their hands on the game. Thats very high for an XBLA game thats only been out less than a week.
FYI: It beat initial projections by over 10%, which was/is awesome!
