Note: I apologize for getting this out late. My brother was in a wreck, and it took a few hours to help him with that.

At any rate, it was an incredibly impressive debut for both Bionic Commando and Pub Games. Both recorded Geometry Wars-like success on their first day at market, with sales about 5% below that of Geometry Wars 2 first day sales.

A few notes:

  • Bionic Commando: Rearmed looks to do incredible numbers. Preliminary sales suggest it will hit 40,000 by Saturday, but could even hit 45,000 - endangering Geometry War 2's first week, which was at 48,000 units
  • Fable 2 Pub Games has done incredibly well, and could beat out BC: Rearmed by the end of the week. However, it's difficult to really catagorize this, as I am sure the vast majority of units "sold" were done through the Fable 2 preorder bundle. This is a nice way, however, of getting a good idea on Fable 2 preorder numbers before the game comes out.
  • Braid has had an incredible 2nd week thus far. It's already 35% higher, week over week versus it's debut. This is incredible for the game, as it means that it is threatening to beat out Geometry Wars 2 in terms of units sold, and looks to beat it in terms of Gross Revenue. This would put Braid at 78,000 units in 2 weeks - well below that of Geometry Wars 2, but still 10% higher in revenue.
  • Geometry Wars Evolved 2 is going to suffer a large drop from last week - a 60% drop is looking very plausible. Should this be the case, we are looking at 128,000 units in 3 weeks. Very impressive. 150,000 units in it's first month is looking a very do-able goal with 2 weeks left after Saturday. That's 50% above Rez HD's first month.
  • 1942: Joint Strike suffers another 50% drop from last week, ouch. It's looking to hit 44,000 units by the end of the week. These are still very good numbers for the title, as it should bring in another 3,000-4,000 units to end it's first month on the charts.
Game Actual Sales Projected Wk Sales Cost Tracking Period
Braid 38,553 50,119 $15.00 5-Day
Fable 2: Pub Games 16,005 41,615 $10.00 1-Day
Bionic Commando: Rearmed 15,797 41,072 $10.00 1-Day
Geometry Wars Evolved 17,395 22,614 $10.00 5-Day
1942: Joint Strike 3,221 4,187 $10.00 5-Day

News & Releases

Castle Crashers has been confirmed at the 1200 Microsoft Point price. This is good news for the title, as we are seeing Braid do incredibly well at that price point. I feel that this move is much better than the rumored price of 1800 points.

Galga Legions is launching next week at 800 Microsoft Points. I expect it to do pretty well, but not near BC: Rearmed or Braid. 20,000 should be a good, achievable goal. Of course, sales have been insane since the Summer of Arcade started, and every game has beaten my projections.

Shred Nebula , a Subspace-style SHMUP has been confirmed for a September 3rd release date. Fans of Subspace NEED to check this American take on the SHMUP genre. I am highly anticipating this game, as I need a X360-style Subspace fix.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball has also been confirmed for the September 3rd date. Very good news if your a fan of pirates, ninjas, and/or dodgeball. I, however, am not looking forward to it.

Both Shred Nebula and Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball are going to be at the 800MSP price point.

Things really are heating up on XBLA. I could easily spend about 150 bucks on various XBLA games if the timing was right. I hope Galaga Legions does well. :)

I was just joking, it's obvious that pre-orders are greater than 16k.

I think I may pre-order the game just for the codes, or maybe I'll just spend the 800(?) ms points and buy them.

DMeisterJ -

The issue is that some of the codes, when entered, did not unlock the game..So some sales were delayed.

On the other end, not everyone got codes, either. I've seen a few reports of people that preordered the game, never got the free codes.

In a month, we should have a good idea where Fable 2 preorders are, at a minimum.

Great sales for Braid, looks like strong word of mouth helped it a lot.
