MontanaHatchet says: Guitar Hero: World Tour is selling almost equally between the Wii and 360 versions. Methinks Rock Band 2 stole some thunder. Posted on: 01/04/09, 21:36
MontanaHatchet says: Also, Rock Band 2 on the PS2 had an amazing second week as well. I know I'm commenting like crazy, but this week's chart even beats the last one. Posted on: 01/04/09, 21:38
alfredofroylan says: @Barozi the list is actualizated now. Interesting list new Wii Million Sellers:
Star wars: The Force Unleash
Naruto: Clash of the Ninja Revolution
House of the Dead 1 and 2 had a nice boost this holiday, and the Rebbids are climing really fast. Rock Band 2 has a great 2 week Posted on: 01/04/09, 21:38
DirtyP2002 says: Gears of War2 > 4 million in 8 weeks and exactly the same number for CoD WaW!
Far Cry2 (Xbox360) is a millionseller.
Lips is selling well.
Same for Banjo.
Halo3 at 70k - nice. With odst coming out, I think this will get a great boost.
Left 4 Dead almost 1 million copies in NA alone. Great!
Guitar Hero Legends of Rock crossing 3 millions in NA alone. Posted on: 01/04/09, 21:46
Zucas says: My goodness I mean I thought sales were going to be down this week and traditionally a lot less but my 20-30% was still to much. Only dropped 10-15% average this week which is so much less than the usual 40%-50%. 2008 is the largest year in gaming PERIOD. Can 2009 top such godliness? Posted on: 01/04/09, 22:06
Bodhesatva says: Anyone else notice that Ubisoft managed to sell ~85% as much software as Electronic Arts without a single game in the top 35? That's a company relying on legs. I'd assume most of those are smaller DS titles.
And yeah, Nintendo platforms continue to dominate. Wii software beginning to approach PS3+360 software (it's been 80% or more every week this Christmas holiday). Posted on: 01/04/09, 23:09
I am ready to bet 20$ the update/DLC will be free. That how Valve do it, they use it to help the sale of the title steady instead of trying to make a quick buck out of the one who already pay for it.. Posted on: 01/04/09, 23:14
--OkeyDokey-- says: Wii Fit must be supply constrained.
It's pretty shocking to see no sign of GTAIV in the top 50 in its first holiday season. Negative word of mouth must've really hurt it.
I cannot believe so many people buy Rockband. I asked about it the other day. It's 300 bucks... that's more than an Arcade 360 down here... Posted on: 01/04/09, 23:25
Kyuu says: It seems the PS3 is getting even more hopeless in the US :( ... Sony is really losing its fan base ... they gotta do some real price cut like 100$ or else they're finished. The Wii is obviously this Gen's winner and will probably take the PSX place as the second best selling console of all time, who know it might even surpass the PS2!!! ... Nintendo never seize to impress me! they're up against two super giant companies and they're beating the hell out of them. Posted on: 01/04/09, 23:34
Well, of course. I can only be happy about sales in this chart since every unit sold in EU is either price cut, or bundled, so even speaking about LBP is a flame-fest. But in america, land of the un-bundled full-priced games, I can be happy. So i Will!
atma998 says: I don't know what is the matter with LBP? Madden NFL 09 (PS3) did better on its 20th week and nobody comments that. Maybe because it's the only PS3 exclusive who did decent numbers?
CoD:WoW (X360) did pretty good this week!
Wii Fit IS indeed supply constrained, it could do at least 2 times those weekly sales. Rock Band 2 (Wii) did amazing on its 2nd week. Wii Music is now a million seller in NA, that's great for Nintendo. Posted on: 01/04/09, 23:41
madskillz says: @ Okey - I think the lower GTA IV sales is obvious - you can pick up used copies on the cheap. Hit up your local craigslist and you'll see GTA IV for both systems for $25. No need to pay retail for the game - get it used for half price.
The Wii is amazing - nuff said.
I love the revival of older 360 games - RB6 2, Gears, Guitar Hero III ... you can see hardware's moving, and even pushing some older titles.
medziarz says: There's a lot of games missing from that (and every other list). A 100 more at least is needed. Does the Total software for each platform come only from the top 200 listed games or is it a different estimate? PS3 is definately the loser here because there are lots of PS3 games that sold less then 30k and more then 1k - the console's installed base is significantly lower than the competitors' and so are the individual multiplatform games' sales and they fall under the top 200 mark but are still very significant. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:01
bigjon says: WiiSofts fell much less than HW, part of that can be pinned on RB2's great launch.
Overall the 15% drops is almost exactly what I predicted, expect, I expect the HD consoles to actually fall more than the Wii because they were not supply contrained this year (people could buy them whenever), a console is not something most people, especially HD type gamers wait til the last second to buy. But I expected solid softs. Wii on the other hand... Nintendo had really huge shipments the week of cmas, so i could see alot of people who could not find one finally getting one during the last wiirage. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:03
MontanaHatchet says: Bigjon, the software fell less than the hardware for pretty much any console. And this week wasn't RB2's launch week. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:08
zuvuyeay says: do nintendo have a magical factory...i'm surprised they can even make what they sell in a week worldwide......they will be giving away 5 golden tickets...hidden in wii sports.....for 5 lucky fanboys.... Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:14
EggsWithLegs says: Sonic Unleashed continues to sell well across all platforms. Definite million seller on Wii :) Great to see Sonic back on form. Sonic Chronicles also got a boost. Should reach 500k next week.
The Last Remnant continues to truck along. If it's legs keep going it will reach 1 million...eventually, just like LO will. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:17
EggsWithLegs says: Also, well done to Fallout 3. Gamestop where I live have been sold out of the game for days now, on X360 anyway. Don't know about PS3. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:19
FilaBrasileiro says: I don't see how Lips could've sold that well in America because
1) It's not a known franchise like Scene It
2) It's not advertised in the US (I have yet to see a commercial for it) and
3) It's more expensive than other Karaoke games available for the 360 and other systems. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:32
DragonLord says: From an owner of both, I can't believe GH:WT is outselling Rock Band 2...it's seriously half the game in all respects. Posted on: 01/05/09, 00:49
zuvuyeay says: @atma998......i don't know how you can even compare a wii and a ps3....it's like comparing a megadrive and a ps2.......what are you going to say when nintendo bring out a console with the power and media abilites of a 360/ps3......the one they are working on now.... Posted on: 01/05/09, 01:20
zuvuyeay says: @atma998
well they must be spending all that money on something.....
but seriously how can you compare the wii with the 360/ps3.....please explain.....when most people i know and according to the hardware sales...
own either a wii and a 360 or a wii and a ps3.......i bet not many people own a 360 and a ps3.....
They would rather work on a new handheld than a new console because the Wii was release only 2 years ago.
And people who owns 2 consoles represents less than 5% of the market. Now you're asking me how I can compare Wii with PS3 or X360? That's an easy one : they all belong to the same generation of consoles. That's why we can compare their sales.
Go take a look at the home page of this site... Posted on: 01/05/09, 02:37
zuvuyeay says: @atma998.......i do....i enjoy all the charts and figures......don't get me wrong i'm not criticising or wanting to be negative......i enjoy all platforms and games......
nintendo.....to infinity and beyond.......incredible sales..... Posted on: 01/05/09, 03:06
dante says: cod sales have blown me away i thought they would be down a lot compared to modern warfare guess i was wrong.
Fall Out 3 is another one that impressed me between all 3 versions it might be over 3 million. It should have good legs and i bet bethesda will rerelease it with expansion packs like they did with oblivion. 5 mil mininum lifetime
disappointing gta sales, used copies are killing it i think but it will still hit 13 or 14 mil which is impressive to say the least
it will be interesting to see next weeks sales so i can get a good idea of what will have good legs after the holidays and what will struggle and die off Posted on: 01/05/09, 04:07
Oh the day when selling more than 2.4 million units of software in one week is bad. Especially on the least most popular console by a large margin. Posted on: 01/05/09, 04:13
z101 says: "I can't understand why there'd be so many used copies of GTA4 floating around; I'm sure most people would want to own it forever."
Most people even don't play the game to the end because its stupid and boring. So I can understand that a lot of people want to sell it on ebay & co. Posted on: 01/05/09, 10:04
TWRoO says: @zuvuyeay and atma. First of all zuvu, no. People do not generally own a Wii and another console.... the vast majority of all generations sees 95% plus of sales to people only buying 1 console. In fact I believe someone estimated the multi console ownership of last generation at about 3% for USA, which is likeley to be the country with the largest percent of multi owners.
It's possible that the larger differences between Wii and PS360 has encouraged more multi-console ownership, but it will still be less than 5% worldwide. In addition, yes there are a number of people on this website who own PS3 and 360, but no Wii... someone made a thread about it a couple of weeks ago.
And to atma, of course Nintendo is working on the next console, that is how it works. True they are unlikely to be at any specification details but they will have been working on the next home console soon after the Wii released. Posted on: 01/05/09, 10:23
papflesje says: @ atma: seriously, are you comparing a platformer with the likes of the sport that controls pretty much every American household? Well done, it must be easy as cake for you, all those intricate courses at Harvard. Posted on: 01/05/09, 11:53
zuvuyeay says: @twroO......i stand corrected.....
that's interesting i would of thought for sure that it would of been more than... 3-5% of gamers having more than one console.....especially a wii and a 360/ps3......seeing as they are so different.... Posted on: 01/05/09, 16:01
Abu says: Am I the only person who is shocked that Sony has only one PS3 game in the top 30 games for the Christmas week? And there are no PS2 or PSP games at all in the top 30!
This has got to be one of Sony's worst Christmases ever in North America. Posted on: 01/06/09, 01:57
You're incapable of finding something I said which is not true, so I have nothing to say to you. Plus I only answer people who can be pertinent with clear arguments otherwise I wont answer them. I can understand that you're a little bit frustrated because of the poor performance of your favorite console but hey, I only pointed out some interesting TRUE facts. Sorry if I hurt you. Snypershawn says: DragonLord says:

I totally agree I received Guitar Hero World Tour for X-mas and I'm already back to playing Rock Band 2 its better in almost every possible way,Other than the instruments, which is more of a prefence than a design flaw. I dont know why people would buy an inferior product.
On other notes,
I'm glad to see Mk Vs. DC get half a million or close to it, I wonder what company will pick up Mk if Midway goes under.
Good sales for Left 4 dead. Like everyone else I'm impatiently waiting for the downloads.
