by Jacob Mazel, posted on 03 February 2012 / 2,409 ViewsSega-Sammy's nine month results for April to December 2011 have arrived. The company had revenue of 311.6b Yen ($4.09b) for the period, with profit of 34.3b Yen ($450m). Revenue was flat compared to the same period of 2010, while profit declined by about 7%. Sega-Sammy maintained its forecast from October, when revenue was projected to reach 440b Yen ($5.78b) in the year to March 2012 with profit of 38b Yen ($499m).
Through six months, Sega-Sammy profit was only 3.98b Yen ($56m) - so the company had profit of 30b Yen ($394m) in the December 2011 quarter - largely on the Mario & Sonic + Sonic Generation launches. Revenue was 159b Yen ($2.09b) in the December quarter, against 152.6 Yen ($2.00b) in the first six months - so profitability clearly improved with the major titles.
Through April-December 2011, Sega-Sammy has shipped 12.6m games, down from 13.63m in the same period of 2010. The company does expect to ship 20m games, up from 18.6m for the full fiscal year though.
